Mango Sasav (Goan Style) | Quick Vegetarian Main Course | Recipe by Archana in Marathi


The way mango is popular
amongst people in Maharashtra. Similarly, people in Goa
are fond of mangoes. Goa has an amazing cuisine culture! One of it’s sweet and spicy delight ‘Mango Sasav’ Lets take 1 big cup of grated coconut. Next, take mustard and fenugreek seeds. Wherein, 1 tsp of mustard seeds
and 5 to 6 fenugreek seeds. Mustard is known as Sasav at
Karwar and Goa. Let’s add these
roasted mustard seeds. Next, add half tsp turmeric powder. 4 to 5 red chillies. Also, add some water. Finally, let’s grind everything
in a blender. Add some water again. Grind it to a coarse paste. This is done. Now, let’s heat the oil
for the tempering. Take around
1 and half tbsp of oil. Once the oil is hot enough,
add mustard seeds and curry leaves. 1 tsp of mustard seeds. Add curry leaves as soon
mustard seeds splutter. Now, let’s add 1 dried red chilli. Next, add the paste
to the tempering. Also, add some water. Next, 1 tbsp jaggery. And salt to taste. Mix everything well. Let it come to a boil. It’s done boiling. Now, it’s time to add peeled
mangoes, small in size. It’s mandatory to take ripe mangoes. Mix them properly
with the paste. It has come to a boil,
let’s add some water. Mix everything thoroughly. Place a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes
as the mango should turn soft. Let’s wait. Now, let’s check if it’s ready. Yes! It’s done. Switch off the stove. Mango Sasav is ready! This is to be enjoyed with
steamed rice! I am going to enjoy this
